Thank you for the thoughtful comment, John.

I can certainly see your point. On it's face, the "David After Dentist" video does appear to be the "mashup of drug use, dental phobia and child exploitation" that you speak of. In fact, the first time I watched it, I felt uneasy.

However, after looking at the facts, it appears as though there was no intent on behalf of the parents to sensationalize or exploit their son. They may be guilty of naiveté for posting it on Youtube and not understanding the viral nature of the site. However, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a jury that would find them guilty of anything.

Your commentary on your blog in regards to the new Nick at Nite series, "Glen Martin DDS" is spot on, however. It's pretty irresponsible, really. Dentists are struggling as it is trying to retain their patients in this economy. Increasing the instanced of dental phobia won't help.

I thought that showing "David at Dentist" could be construed as child abuse.

Nick at Nite has a new show in the same vein--if a kid sees Nick@Nite's "Glenn Martin DDS" show-the next dental visit would be scary-or a total rejection of treatment-http://ow.ly/7oQV

Of course one way we deal with anxiety is to make a joke (inappropriate or not)

But there is a mashup here of drug use, dental phobia and child exploitation, that is difficult to unravel.
