Check out the new Colgate Wisp if haven’t done so already. This nifty, compact(3-1/2″ long) tool sports a toothbrush on one end and a soft interdental pick on the other.

However, the coolest Wisp feature is the “freshening bead” planted in the center of the toothbrush. Upon contact, the bead releases a fresh liquid that freshens your breath – all without the need for water.

#5. McDonalds Dental Ad

I can safely say that next to the Michael Jordan VS Larry Bird “Nothin’ But Net” commercials of the 90′s, this is my favorite McDonald’s commercial of all time.

#4. David After Dentist

This video is one of the most controversial videos of the year posted to Youtube. Appartently, some folks equate this video to child abuse(Read the Today Show’s Analysis of the video). I disagree. In my mind the video is simply chronicalling a funny event in David’s life that the family can look back on and have a good laugh with in the future. I do, however, admit that uploading the video to Youtube while apparently unaware of the viral nature of the site is downright naive and stupid. Nevertheless, lighten up and laugh.

In this video, Bill Cosby entertains the crowd with his depiction of a visit to the dentist. Excuse me while I go look for some Cosby Show reruns on TV.

I don’t know how many of you are fans of the 90′s hit TV show, Married with Children, but I came across a funny clip the other day that I thought I would share with you. Be forewarned, if you’re not familiar with the show, that it’s far from politically-correct. So, if you’re easily offended, you probably won’t find it funny. Personally, I find it hilarious.

Do-It-Yourself Dentistry, Al Bundy Style

If you’ve followed Dental Heroes for awhile now, you’ll probably remember the posts I wrote some time ago regarding do-it-yourself(DIY) dentistry. There was the post highlighting the DIY dentistry epidemic in Britain, and a disturbing video of a Serbian man having a tooth pulled out by one of his friends with a pair of pliers. In both cases, I concluded that DIY dentistry is not a good idea. In this video, Al Bundy, and his wife Peggy display the place DIY dentistry has in their household(good part starts about 3:30 in). Enjoy.

If you’ve been following the comical videos I’ve been posting on Dental Heroes, you’ve probably noticed that a number of them are from the television show, MADtv. Am I obsessed with MADtv? No. But, they do make some of the best dental-related comedy bits ever. “Stuart Meets the Tooth Fairy” is no exception. Have a look for yourself, but make sure you’re firmly planted in your chair because it’s absolutely hilarious!

Stuart Meets the Tooth Fairy

If you’re familiar with Lorraine from MadTV, you know that her off-the-wall antics would be a dentist’s worst nightmare. Thankfully, Lorraine is just a character on TV. You’ll see why dentists everywhere would dread her as a patient in this video clip:

If you haven’t had the opportunity to see the 1986 classic, “Little Shop of Horrors”, I highly suggest you give it a rent. In the clip below, Steve Martin plays the dentist from hell. You know, the evil guy with the drill hell-bent on causing the patient as much trauma as possible. Come to think of it, isn’t that how dentists have been portrayed by the media since the beginning of time?

If you’ve ever had a tooth extracted, or had minor oral surgery, you’re probably familiar with nitrous oxide – commonly referred to as “laughing gas”. The euphoric effects are unmistakable – so too is the sometimes uncontrollable laughter that ensues as the gas is inhaled. As with most gases, there are also some side effects. As Wikipedia notes:

Nitrous oxide is a disassociative drug that can cause analgesia, depersonalization, dizziness, euphoria, sound distortion, and slight hallucinations

Aside from the euphoric capabilities, this sounds like nasty stuff right? Well, don’t tell that to these dental students who show us in these Youtube videos how they spend their time in dental school.

Are you ready to begin performing your own tooth extractions, root canals, and reconstructive surgery? Well, now you can with “Dentist-In-A-Box”. You’ll never need to go to the dentist again because everything you need is “in the box”. Ok, maybe not. Dental care costs may be shooting through the roof, but self-dental care still sounds like the worst idea in the history of man. But, as MADtv proved, it sure does make one funny parody video.

I probably should have created a category entitled “Really Funny, But Don’t Try This at Home” for this video. But, for obvious reasons I refrained. That being said, kids(and certain adults) please don’t take this video too seriously or try anything you see here at home.

In this video, a younger Bill Cosby treats us to a satirical look at a visit to the dentist. I have to tell you, I feel better knowing I’m not the only one who finds it odd when the dentist tries to strike up a conversation about the meaning of life as he’s filling your mouth to the brim with rinsing water, or worse yet, when hes using the dental pump(saliva sucker).

I think Bill portrays his dismay with this very thing quite well as the dentist asks Bill about his vacation plans:

Dentist:”So where do you u usual go?”
Cosby: (GARGLE)
Dentist:”Yes, ive been there many times myself”

How many times have you had this happen to you? My guess is just about every time you visit the dentist if you’re anything like me.

Nobody Likes Flossing

Flossing is definitely not on my list of favorite things to do. I’m willing to bet it’s not real high on your list either. However, as much as we don’t want to believe it, flossing is one of the most important ways we can take care of our teeth.

The Problem With Flossing

The problem for most people is that they only know that they need to floss. They don’t know how to select the correct type of floss, when to floss, for how long, and the proper way to do it. This video answers all of these questions in a way that we all can understand. No technical jargon.

Many of you will remember this Tim Conway and Harvey Corman clip from The Carol Burnett Show, but we couldn’t resist posting it, because if you’re anything like us, it never gets old.
